There’s just something about sipping on a Sangria. The delightfulness of the wine, the fruit that comes along with the taste, and just all the different flavors you may not even expect to taste! This Sangria is a twist on the Classic Sangria Recipe originally created in Spain. Many will argue that you cannot call this a Sangria, as it does not have Red Wine in it. However, I love to make different recipes that are a twist on the original classic. This Sparkling Rose Sangria recipe is one of a kind and is different in all aspects of the cocktail world. It uses a sparkling wine as opposed to the regular white or red wine. It has many different citrusy flavors such as grapefruit, and guava, along with a hint of elderflower in the mix. Get ready to send your tastebuds on a wild adventure they will be sure to love!
What Is Sangria?
The classic Sangria is an alcoholic beverage originated in Spain and Portugal. It is essentially a red wine punch, often accompanied by fresh fruit flavors as well as other spirits. Red Sangria has become the staple of any sangria out there. It is the original and when using the word Sangria in any other form of a cocktail, many will argue this cannot be done. But as the years have evolved, many mixologists have had a lot of fun coming up with different sangria recipes using all different kinds of wine!
What Is Guava?
Guava is a delicious tropical fruit native to Mexico. This fruit is commonly eaten fresh, or used in cocktails, mocktails, jams and other foods. Guava has a very unique and sweet flavor to it. Many will compare it’s flavor to a mixture between a strawberry and a pear. Using fresh Guava juice for this particular Sparkling Rose Sangria Recipe would definitely be best, however there is no harm in buying already made Guava Juice from your local supermarket. Some will argue that they prefer that over fresh as it is slightly sweeter and more appealing than fresh Guava juice.
What Ingredients You Will Need To Make Sparkling Rose Sangria Recipe:
SPARKLING ROSE
Always find the best quality Rose for a cocktail like this. As the Rose is the main key ingredient you will be tasting. I love to use La Marca or Ruffino.
GRAPEFRUIT JUICE
Freshly squeezed grapefruit juice is always the best, however if you don’t have the time or the product to do so, you can always buy your favorite Grapefruit Juice from your local supermarket.
ELDERFLOWER LIQUEUR
There really is only one Elderflower Liqueur I choose to use in my cocktails and that is St. Germain
GUAVA JUICE
As described above, using fresh guava juice would be best but also may not be as sweet. In order to get fresh guava juice, take 2-3 guava’s, cut up, and add to blender with a little water. Then strain into a glass. If you do not have guava’s in your area, you may use any Guava Juice that you can purchase at your local supermarket.
BRANDY
Using brandy is completely optional in a Sangria. Especially a light Sparkling Rose Sangria Recipe like this one. Brandy makes Sangria taste and smell more aromatic. You can use any Brandy you’d like, but I usually love using St. Remy VSOP.
PROSECCO OR SPARKLING WATER
It’s always nice to add a little bit of bubbles to the Sangria. This gives it more of a crisp refreshing finish and that Summery Cocktail type vibe. You can use either Sparkling Water or Prosecco. It all depends on preference when it comes to taste as well as alcohol content.
