What Is A Mojito?
A Mojito is a cuban classic cocktail that consists of the perfect blend of Rum, Lime, Sugar, Mint and topped of with Sparkling Water. Sometimes, if you want to get daring and have a little fun, you can swap out the Sparkling Water for Prosecco. Just to give your cocktail that much more of a twist and spunk! Mojitos are as quick and simple to make as a normal cocktail. However, they do not require true bartending skills as anyone can make this right at home! It requires muddling your mint, sugar and any fruit you may use. So make sure to get yourself a Muddler in order to truly enjoy the real flavors of this cocktail! You can use any fruit or juice in any mojito you’d like. This specific Pomegranate Rosemary Mojito recipe contains pomegranate juice as well as fresh rosemary . However, if you are not a fan of either, then feel free to switch it up and use a different fruit and/or juice and follow the same recipe!
Classic Mojito Ingredients
RUM
Always make sure to use a high quality white rum when making Mojitos. White Rum is the best rum to use, as any dark or spiced rum will take away from the smoothness that mojitos possess.
LIME
Make sure to ALWAYS use freshly squeezed lime juice in any cocktail you make, but ESPECIALLY in mojitos. As the lime is one of its key ingredients that makes this drink as refreshing as it is.
MINT
You can typically find Mint Leaves at any local grocery store. Make sure they are fresh and green and have no black ends to them, as that is a key indicator they are old and will not have as strong of a spearmint flavor as they usually do.
SUGAR
You can always use regular granulated sugar (about a teaspoon) to make a classic mojito or for this blackberry mojito recipe. If you don’t have Simple Syrup. However Simple Syrup is the best ingredient to use in a cocktail like this. Simple Syrup is easy and quick to make right at home. Just combine equal amounts of water and equal amounts of sugar. Bring to a boil until all the sugar is dissolved. Take off the heat, let cool down and bottle in a glass container. Keep contents in the refrigerator!
SPARKLING WATER
The sparkling water is whats going to give this cocktail the ultimate balance and refreshing taste that it needs!
