What Is Simple Syrup?
Simple Syrup is a sweetener that is used in many cocktails and mocktails to spruce up the taste and make them sweeter. It also is used in many desserts as well. A regular Simple Syrup is made up of just two ingredients. Water and Sugar. You just need to bring those to a boil until the sugar dissolves and then refrigerate! Mojitos are one of the many cocktails that simple syrup is used in.

When it comes to sugar choice, that is solely your own decision. People use all different kinds of sugar when making Simple Syrup. You can use granulated sugar, brown sugar, monk fruit, stevia, and more! It truly all depends on what you like best! In this specific Blackberry Simple Syrup recipe I used regular granulated sugar.

When making Blackberry Simple Syrup, you want to make sure to boil your contents until the berries start to lose their dark color. When they start to turn a more red-ish/pink color then that is when your syrup is ready! Blackberries don’t tend to mush as much as other berries, so the discoloration is the key factor to determining when the syrup is done.
How To Store Blackberry Simple Syrup

You want to make sure to store any Simple Syrup in your refrigerator. Especially when it contains flavors like this Blackberry Simple Syrup. This will also help it last longer. This syrup will last around 2-3 weeks in the refrigerator. You can store your syrup in either a glass or plastic container with a lid!
