How to Make Halloween Ghost Jell-O Shots
Making these spooky little ghosts is incredibly simple!
Start by combining your raspberry Jell-O and unflavored gelatin with boiling water, stirring until everything has completely dissolved. Next, mix in your vodka or water, depending on whether you’re making an adult or non-alcoholic version.
Carefully pour the mixture into your silicone ghost molds and refrigerate for at least one hour, although I recommend giving them closer to two hours so they’re nice and firm.
Once they’re completely set, gently remove them from the molds and use a black edible food marker to draw two eyes and a little ghost mouth on each one.
And that’s it! You have the cutest little Halloween Jell-O ghosts ready to serve!
Tips for Making the Best Ghost Jell-O Shots
Use silicone molds. Silicone ghost molds make removing the Jell-O much easier while helping the ghosts keep their adorable shapes.
Let them fully set. Although they may begin to firm up after an hour, I recommend refrigerating them for at least two hours before removing them from the molds.
Make sure your edible marker works on gelatin. Because Jell-O has a moist surface, some edible markers won’t write clearly. Gently blot the ghosts before decorating and test one first.
Make them ahead. Prepare the ghosts the night before your party and keep them covered in the refrigerator. Add the faces shortly before serving for the best appearance.
Have fun with the presentation! Arrange your ghost Jell-O shots on a black serving platter or Halloween-themed tray for an extra spooky look.
Can You Make These Without Alcohol?
Absolutely! One of the best things about this recipe is how easily you can turn it into a family-friendly Halloween treat.
Simply replace the one cup of vodka with one cup of cold water. You’ll still get the same fun ghost shapes and delicious raspberry flavor without the alcohol.
If you’re hosting a party with both adults and kids, you can even make two separate batches! Just be sure to label the alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions clearly and keep them on separate serving platters.
How to Store Halloween Ghost Jell-O Shots
These are a great make-ahead Halloween party recipe! Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
For the prettiest presentation, I recommend adding the ghost faces shortly before serving. Keep the finished shots chilled until it’s time to enjoy them.

Ingredients
Halloween Ghost Jell-O Shots
Prep: 10 minutes
Chill: 2 hours
Easy
Servings: Varies depending on the size of your ghost molds.
These adorable raspberry Halloween Ghost Jell-O Shots are made in silicone ghost molds and finished with spooky black faces. Make them with vodka for an adult Halloween party or water for a kid-friendly treat!
Ingredients
1 (3 oz) packet raspberry Jell-O
3 (0.25 oz each) packets unflavored gelatin
1 cup boiling water
1 cup vodka (or 1 cup cold water for non-alcoholic)
Black edible food marker
Equipment: Silicone ghost molds, mixing bowl, whisk, measuring cup, small spoon or pouring pitcher.
Directions
- 1. In a mixing bowl, combine the raspberry Jell-O powder and three packets of unflavored gelatin.
Pour in one cup of boiling water and whisk until the Jell-O and gelatin are completely dissolved.
2. Add one cup of vodka, or substitute one cup of cold water for a non-alcoholic version. Stir until fully combined.
3. Carefully pour the mixture into your silicone ghost molds, filling each cavity evenly.
Place the molds in the refrigerator for at least one hour, preferably two hours, or until completely firm.
Once set, gently remove each ghost from the silicone mold.
4. Lightly blot the surface dry and use a black edible food marker suitable for moist gelatin surfaces to draw two eyes and a spooky little mouth on each ghost.
5. Arrange on a Halloween serving platter, keep refrigerated, and enjoy!
Recipe Notes
The mixture makes approximately 2 cups before setting. Yield depends on the size of your molds. Regular edible markers may not write well on slippery Jell-O, so test one ghost first. A tiny amount of black food coloring applied with a food-safe fine brush is another option.
