This Italian Margarita recipe is so delicious you will be wondering how you only ever drank the Classic Margarita and not this! It’s an easy margarita recipe filled with the taste of fresh blood oranges, tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice and amaretto. The different flavors in this cocktail are such a delight, you will feel like you are sitting in the hills of Tuscany!
What Is In An Italian Margarita?
You will have all the flavors of a Classic Margarita plus the delicious nutty flavor of Amaretto Liqueur. A traditional Italian Margarita can be made a few different ways, however one of the simple recipes just includes adding Amaretto to your classic margarita recipe. Below are the ingredients for this easy margarita recipe:
Tequila
Orange Liqueur
Lime Juice
Amaretto
Which Amaretto To Use?
There are a few different brands on the shelf of Amaretto. However, when making an Italian Margarita, this liqueur is one of the key ingredients making this cocktail extremely tasteful. Therefore, you do not want to go with bottom shelf on this. I highly recommend sticking with a great brand and that’s Disaronno. You will not be disappointed using this brand!
Fresh Blood Orange Juice vs. Bottle Blood Orange Juice
Forever and always, I will urge you to use freshly squeezed juices when it comes to unique flavored cocktails. Orange juice, Pineapple juice and Pomegranate juice are a few that I believe using bottled juices are ok. However, when it comes to Blood Orange juice, the fresher the juice, the tastier the cocktail! In case you do not have fresh blood oranges in your area, or they are out of season, then yes you can always go for bottle blood orange juice. You will still have a great tasting cocktail!
What Is In This Italian Margarita With Blood Oranges?
Unlike the classic margarita, this recipe has Amaretto as well as Blood Orange juice in it. A typical Italian Margarita does not have Blood Orange juice, but I wanted to do a fun twist and make it even more delicious! Below are the ingredients you will need for this easy margarita recipe:
- Tequila
- Orange Liqueur
- Lime Juice
- Blood Orange Juice
- Amaretto
