Mistletoe Spritz – The Prettiest Christmas Pomegranate Cocktail
If there’s one thing I absolutely love during the Christmas season, it’s a beautiful, festive cocktail that looks fancy but is actually SO easy to make! And this Mistletoe Spritz might just be one of my favorite holiday drinks to serve when entertaining.
Made with sweet and tart pomegranate juice, a splash of limoncello, bubbly Prosecco, and sparkling water, this cocktail is light, refreshing, and full of delicious flavor. And can we talk about how gorgeous that deep red color is for Christmas?!
Once you add a few fresh cranberries, an orange slice, and a sprig of rosemary, you have the prettiest Christmas cocktail that looks like it belongs at a holiday party!
I especially love making festive spritz cocktails because they come together in just minutes. Whether you’re hosting Christmas Eve, planning a holiday girls’ night, celebrating with friends, or simply enjoying a cozy evening with the Christmas tree lit up, this Mistletoe Spritz is such a fun cocktail to make.
And if you love a good holiday spritz as much as I do, you’ll also want to try my Autumn Pomegranate Spritz, Mistletoe Cranberry Gin Fizz, and Winter RumChata Margarita. All three are delicious options for entertaining during the fall and Christmas seasons!
The Perfect Christmas Spritz Cocktail
There’s just something about a spritz cocktail that makes any gathering feel a little more special!
I love a good creamy Christmas martini or holiday punch, but sometimes I want something a little lighter, fruity, and refreshing. Especially when there’s already so much delicious food and dessert being served during the holidays.
That’s exactly why I love this Mistletoe Spritz.
The pomegranate juice gives it that beautiful ruby-red color and a slightly tart flavor, while the limoncello adds the perfect hint of sweet lemon.
Then comes the Prosecco, which gives the drink those gorgeous bubbles, and a splash of sparkling water to keep everything crisp and refreshing.
It’s such a simple combination, but the flavors work beautifully together!
And my favorite part? You don’t need any complicated syrups, special equipment, or even a cocktail shaker.
Everything can be made right in your glass!
Why You’ll Love This Mistletoe Spritz
There are so many reasons this cocktail is perfect for Christmas entertaining!
First, it’s absolutely beautiful. The deep red pomegranate juice, bright orange slice, fresh cranberries, and green rosemary sprig give it all those classic Christmas colors.
Second, it’s incredibly easy to make. You only need four main ingredients, and the whole cocktail comes together in about five minutes.
And finally, it’s refreshing without being too sweet.
The combination of pomegranate, lemon, and sparkling wine gives it such a delicious balance of fruity, citrusy, and bubbly flavors.
It’s perfect for anyone who loves a Prosecco cocktail but wants something a little more festive for the holidays.
Why Limoncello Makes This Christmas Cocktail So Good
One ingredient that really makes this Mistletoe Spritz special is the limoncello!
If you’ve never used limoncello in a spritz before, you’re going to love it.
Limoncello is a sweet Italian lemon liqueur that adds a delicious citrus flavor without needing to squeeze fresh lemons or make any homemade simple syrup.
The lemon flavor pairs so nicely with the tartness of the pomegranate juice.
And when you add Prosecco, everything becomes light, crisp, and bubbly!
I personally love how the limoncello gives this cocktail a little something different from your traditional cranberry or pomegranate Christmas drinks.
It’s the perfect combination of sweet, tart, and refreshing.
How to Make Your Mistletoe Spritz Look Extra Festive
Now, you know I love making my cocktails look just as beautiful as they taste!
And the garnishes on this one are what really give it that Christmas magic.
I like serving my Mistletoe Spritz in a large wine glass filled with ice. Once the cocktail is poured, I add a few fresh cranberries, a thin orange slice, and a sprig of fresh rosemary.
The rosemary looks like a little piece of Christmas greenery, while the cranberries give it that festive red-and-green look.
The orange slice adds such a pretty pop of color, too!
If you’re hosting a holiday party, you could even tie a small velvet bow around the stem of each glass for an extra-special Christmas touch.
It’s those little details that make holiday entertaining so much fun!
Perfect for Christmas Parties, Girls’ Nights, and Holiday Brunch
This Mistletoe Spritz is one of those cocktails that works for just about every holiday occasion.
I especially love the idea of serving these at a Christmas girls’ night with a beautiful appetizer spread, Christmas music playing, and all the cozy holiday decorations.
It would also be such a pretty signature drink for a Christmas Eve party, holiday brunch, cookie exchange, or festive dinner with friends.
You could even set up a little Christmas spritz station with chilled Prosecco, pomegranate juice, limoncello, sparkling water, and bowls of fresh garnishes.
That way, everyone can make their own festive cocktail!
And if you’re hosting a larger gathering and want something you can prepare for a crowd, my Christmas Punch Recipe is another delicious option.
Can You Make a Mistletoe Spritz Ahead of Time?
Yes! You can definitely do some of the prep ahead of time, which is especially helpful when you’re hosting.
I recommend chilling your pomegranate juice, limoncello, Prosecco, and sparkling water before your guests arrive.
You can also wash your cranberries, slice your oranges, and prepare your fresh rosemary sprigs in advance.
However, I wouldn’t fully assemble the cocktails until you’re ready to serve them.
The Prosecco and sparkling water are what make this cocktail so deliciously bubbly, and you don’t want to lose all that fizz!
When it’s time to serve, simply add everything to your glass, give it a gentle stir, garnish, and enjoy.
Tips for Making the Best Christmas Spritz
Use chilled ingredients. The colder your Prosecco, juice, and sparkling water are, the more refreshing your cocktail will be.
Choose a dry Prosecco. I recommend Brut Prosecco because the limoncello already adds sweetness. A drier sparkling wine helps balance everything out.
Adjust the pomegranate juice. I like using 1½ to 2 ounces, depending on how fruity and tart I want the cocktail. Two ounces also gives you a slightly deeper red color!
Don’t overmix. Once you add the Prosecco and sparkling water, give everything one gentle stir so you don’t lose those beautiful bubbles.
Add your garnishes right before serving. Fresh cranberries, rosemary, and orange slices make the prettiest presentation when they’re added just before your guests enjoy their cocktails.
